The Chamber of Real Estate & Builders’ Associations, Inc. (CREBA) – the only and official cooperating association of the Chicago-based National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) in the Philippines, led the oath taking rites of more than 300 International REALTOR® Members (IRM) and NAR affiliates nationwide in cooperation with CREBA chapters and real estate service practitioners’ associations.

Presided by Asuncion “Shonee” Henry, NAR President’s Liaison to the Philippines and Charlie A. V. Gorayeb, CREBA National President, the rites was held recently at the AIM International Conference Center Manila.

Succeeding pinning ceremonies that gathered big groups of duly licensed real estate brokers, appraisers and consultants, were held at the N Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City last June 4, 2011, and at the Sacred Heart Convention Center, Cebu City last June 5, 2011.

A CREBA-NAR bilateral accord signed in January 2011 armed the Chamber with exclusive long-term stewardship of the NAR name and programming, as well as the unique authority to protect the use of the REALTOR® trademark and brand name nationwide. Vice-President Jejomar C. Binay, chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), witnessed the event.

The prestigious NAR is the “voice for real estate” representing over 1.1 million members in the United States and in 60 countries worldwide. NAR-certified International REALTOR® Members (IRM) enjoy exclusive use of the distinctive and globally recognized REALTOR® trademark and logo, access to the largest online real estate library in the world, a searchable international brokers directory and other tools proven to leverage real estate professionals in international business, among other membership benefits.

Gorayeb said the CREBA-NAR alliance was timely as the local property sector enjoys its most dynamic cycle in recent history. He stressed that stakeholders must be committed to drive the land and housing development as a top catalyst for economic and social progress. Henry confirmed that through CREBA, the International REALTOR® Membership in the Philippines has grown to be the biggest in Asia in just a few months.

Julius G. Topacio, CREBA Vice-President for Global Real Estate Alliances, said real estate practitioners play a vital role in the social, political, economic development and progress of their respective countries. The NAR-CREBA pact strongly conveys absolute and esteemed commitment to make Philippine practitioners globally competitive in the international real estate community.

To implement this objective, CREBA has created the CREBA-NAR Global Real Estate Council led by Evangeline A. Yia as Chairman, Domingo D. de Vera as Vice-chairman, with Dr. Mary Gaw So, Josephine A. Cortez, Daniel R. dela Cruz, Avelina P. Acuna and Robert Marie C. Sy as members.
NAR views land as a most vital resource.  Its “wise utilization and widely allocated ownership will determine the survival and growth of free institutions and of civilizations.” REALTORS® affirm that the interests of a nation and its citizens require the highest and best use of the land and the widest distribution of land ownership.

NAR membership application can be coursed through CREBA and is open to all licensed real estate service practitioners and affiliate businesses as well. Interested parties may call 373-2270 to 75 or email to crebanar@yahoo.com.
